Who is this suitable for: Over 16's- This course is perfect if you have sewn before or if you have attended the some beginners workshops & would like to extend your sewing skills further into dressmaking
What you'll Learn & Make: in this session you will learn how to perfect shirring, you will have the opportunity to test the technique on different sample fabrics before measuring & calculating your own dress, top, skirt, trouser waistband etc. You will put your shirring skills into practice making your own garment based on body measurements or bring along a recommended pattern that has shirred detail, decide/design straps & have the opportunity to use an overlocker. There is no set outcome in the workshop to give you choice in which garment /style suits you. The session involves key tutor demonstrations to give the session structure & core skills are learnt. There will be flexibility to work at your own pace & gain support where needed, this will be a great opportunity to pick up tips & techniques when the tutor is helping other sewers with projects that may contain different techniques than your own. A great skill for beginners or returning dressmakers.
The timings of this workshop should enable you to complete your garment within the session but each person will work at a different pace so please be aware you may have tasks to complete after the session finishes.
