5 Week Summer Dress Workshop

Time & Dates: 6-8pm Thursdays 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th May
Includes all materials & equipment Plus 12 hours tuition;
- Nell pattern (RRP £18.50)
- up to 2.5 metres Fabric (more may be required for larger sizes or midi dress version)

This course is specifically designed to take your dressmaking/sewing skills to a more confident & professional level- if you have done the beginners dressmaking or stretch (tshirt/hoodie) course then this is perfect for you. During the 5 weeks you cover; laying out pattern pieces, grainline, bias of fabric, pattern markings, transferring pattern markings & notches.
Week One:
Reading the envelope
Measuring & sizings
Cross referencing finished garment measurements
Selecting a size
laying out pattern pieces, grainline, bias of fabric,
pattern markings, transferring pattern markings & notches,
Interfacing- facing
Week Two:
stay stitches,
darts
Shoulder seams & seam finishes; pinking shears, overlocker or over cast
Week 3:
Attaching a facing, clipping & understitching
Sleeves
Week 4/5:
Gathering for peplum/dress versions
hems/hem finishes
Buttonholes/ poppers/ tie fastenings
The timings of this workshop should enable you to leave with a finished product but each person will work at a different pace so please be aware you may have tasks to complete at home to finish your garment.
