Cost: £55: Includes up to 1.5m of fabric, printed pattern Choose from camisole, peasant top or simple top (please check pattern sizes before choosing a top style)

Who is this suitable for: Over 16's- This course is perfect if you have sewn before or if you have attended the some beginners workshops & would like to extend your sewing skills further into dressmaking or have dressmaking experience & would like to try new patterns/styles/materials etc

What you'll Learn & Make: for this session we have selected 3 dress patterns (please see size charts before selecting) to give you choice in which style pattern suits you, the session involves key tutor demonstrations to give the session structure & core skills are learnt! Patterns with cover; pattern layout & notches, seams, seam finishes, hems, facings & other basic dressmaking skills.

A great base workshop for beginners or returning dressmakers.

The timings of this workshop should enable you to complete the garment within the session but each person will work at a different pace so please be aware you may have tasks to complete after the session finishes.

A super day learning a new skill

I really.enjoyed the workshop where I learnt how to make a.new pair of trousers. I finished them off at home that evening and have worn them loads of times. Lucy was so helpful and I feel that I learnt lots of new skills. I'm keen to come to another workshop or sewing social in the future. I have recommended The Sewing Institute to friends.

Really enjoyable day with good tutors and lovely fellow sewers. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which to learn .

Fabulous day

This beginner’s dressmaking class was excellent. Lucy made me feel comfortable and relaxed. She gave clear and helpful instructions. I couldn’t believe I had made a kimono in a day with very little previous experience. I loved the overlocker! Would highly recommend The Sewing institute. I’ve booked on to the Shirring class and Stretch fabric class - can’t wait.
